McDonald's stores in China will change the cooking oil they use starting next year Karl Malone Jersey , despite an increased cost, and introduce new menu items including fruits and vegetables, the Beijing Times reported on Friday.
Phyllis Cheung, the CEO of McDonald's China, said the fast-food giant is testing new cooking oil and plans to replace the current palm oil with a mixture of sunflower seed and canola oil.
The reasons behind the change are to optimize the nutrition structure, dramatically reduce the consumption of saturated fatty acids, and improve heath.
Cheung admitted that costs will increase as a result, but the company will not release data and has no immediate plans to raise food prices.
McDonald's China stores will also offer more choices that include fruits, vegetables and grains. It has already piloted selling apple slices in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Tianjin.
The company also said it has been advocating for the use of less salt in China, reducing salt by 450 tons since 2010, including a 20 percent cut in the amount of salt used on fries.
Cai Meiqin, the vice chairperson of the Shanghai Nutrition Society, said McDonald's focus on less salt, better oil, and a more balanced diet fits well with the overall theme of "The Dietary Guidelines for Chinese Residents" released this year.
She also said food is an important social concern, and that the fast-food brand's move is expected to encourage more people to consider healthier dietary choices.
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan. 2 (Xinhua) -- Royal Malaysian Navy Chief Abdul Aziz Jaafar said on Friday that on his tweet account that the search sector for AirAsia flight QZ8501 has been moved 30 nautical miles to the east.
He said the "most probable area" was established with a dimension of 1,575 sq nautical miles.
"This is the most likely the area of the missing plane," he added while tweeting an image mapping out the search area.
Abdul Aziz said three ships were tasked to search in the "most probable area," which would operate Underwater Marine Detection System to search the wreck.
He said the Indonesian National Search and Rescue Agency has assigned the diving teams to carry out diving and underwater search.

More bodies from AirAsia flight to be identified

"Both sides agree that Lippi will no longer be the head coach of Evergrande from March 1, 2015," the statement added.
The club heaped praise on the 66-year-old Lippi, hailing him as "a great tactician, a gentleman and a huge contributor to Chinese soccer."
"World famous coach Lippi took the helm of Evergrande on May 17, 2012. Since then, he has got along very well with the club, working hard to build a strong and high-spirited squad for Guangzhou as well as for China," said the statement.
"Lippi opened a new era for Guangzhou and Chinese soccer. Under his guidance, Evergrande claimed the Chinese top-flight league in 2012, 2013 and 2014, won the CFA Cup in 2012, and made the history by taking the AFC Champions League title for the first time in 2013.
"As a world top class coach and a great tactician, Lippi has not only brought victories and champion's trophies to Guangzhou, but also made great contributions to the development of the Chinese soccer.
"A gentleman with a great personality, Lippi is also a football messenger and a beloved friend to hundreds of millions of Chinese fans."
Italian Fabio Cannavaro, 41, former world player of the year and a World Cup winner in 2006, will formally succeed Lippi to take the rein of Evergrande.
