She said the package is divided into two parts with 55 percentbeing a credit which is payable within 40 years, while 45 percentis a grant to the small West African state.

Amadou Sanneh, Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs said themacroeconomic developments in 2016 have been impacted considerablyby the economic mismanagement or fraudulent practices of theprevious regime and external shocks.

According to him, the economic growth in 2016 is now estimatedto have reached 2.2 percent, markedly lower than the 4.3 percentgrowth in 2015, due to limited availability of foreign exchange,weak agricultural output and the effect of the political impasse ontourism during high season.

KHARTOUM, July 20 (Xinhua) -- Sudan's Foreign Ministry on Thursday praised the U.S. State Department's Country Reports on Terrorism, expressing hope that it would be a step toward lifting Sudan from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism.

""We commend the report, as it is the first time after 20 years that a very clear report comes that Sudan is free from supporting terrorism,"" Sudan's Foreign Minister Ibrahim Ghandour told reporters.

""This report now indicates that Sudan is combating terrorism and its record is free of terrorism. This is a testimony of the U.S. institutions and we are confident that it will also be the testimony of the international institutions,"" he added.

The U.S. State Department's annual country report on terrorism, released on Wednesday, praised Sudan for its counter-terrorism cooperation with U.S. agencies, admitting that Khartoum has made significant progress in counter-terrorism.

""Reports indicate that the Government of Sudan ceased providing Hamas (with) any direct support as they did in years past,"" the report said.

""Countering terrorism is today a national security priority for Sudan, and Sudan is a cooperative partner of the United States on counter-terrorism, despite its continued presence on the State Sponsors of Terrorism List,"" it added.

Sudan was listed by the U.S. as a country sponsoring terrorism in 1993, over concerns about its support to terrorist groups.
